Giuseppe Richeri is professor emeritus of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Italian Switzerland (Lugano) from 2014, where he was twice elected Dean, the director of the Institute for Media and Journalism (IMeG) and the founder and director of China Media Observatory. He is the author or editor of 16 books and over 100 articles in the field of political economy of media and communication studies, many of the publications have been translated in various countries. He has been involved in the activities of numerous international institutions (UNESCO, EC, EU, European Council, IAMCR) and is a member of the scientific committee of major research foundations such as the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris in France, and Fondazione Bordoni in Italy.
