Prof. GONG Wenxiang, Director of Institute of Communication & Culture, Peking University, was Executive Dean (2001-2006) of PKU School of Journalism and Communication, and Vice Chair (2006 - 2011) of Communication Association of China. He was Chair (1997-2001) of Dept. of International & Cross-cultural Communication, PKU School of International Relations. Degrees: B.A. and M.A. from Peking University.

His research interests include persuasion and propaganda; intercultural communication and comparative media & culture studies. Other activities: Directing UNESCO Workshop on information and communication education in Viet Nam. Hosting international conference: Transparency and Governance: China’s Domestic and International Policy Challenges, Hong Kong. Lecture tours in the U.S., Sweden, visiting South Korea, U.K. and Jerusalem. Publications include: Three Major Factors in Constructing the Image of China; Information Sovereignty Reviewed; The Legacy of Confucian Culture in Maoist China; Persuasion: the Art of Convincing, etc.


