Xigen Li (Ph.D., Michigan State University, 1999) is a professor of Department of Media and Communication, City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Li taught at several U.S. universities before joining City University of Hong Kong in 2008. His research focuses on impact of communication technology on mass communication, media use and online communication behavior, and social influence on media content. Dr. Li has been conducting research on media and Internet communication since 1995. His publications appeared in Journal of Communication, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, Journal of Computer-mediated Communication, and New Media and Society. In 2016, he published the book based on his research of new media since the second decade of the Internet: Emerging Media: Uses and Dynamics.
